History

  • The club began in April 1974 with 27 Charter members at The Gallery bar when patrons asked “Are you interested in forming a leather/levi club?”  Within a few months, membership grew to 49 men after several meetings at the apartment of Walter Beall and Jack Fauth.

Our First Anniversary was held at the Hippo, with food cooked by two members- the admission was $2.  We still have the list of the 175 attendees.  The second anniversary, held at the Alcazar (now Baltimore School for the Performing Arts) was an extravaganza of glitters and feathers that rivaled the Ziegfeld Follies.  Other Anniversaries have been held at the Governor’s Club, The Union Hall in Dundalk, The Electric Circus (now Bill Bateman’s Bistro), Overlea Caterer’s, La Fontaine Bleu, Martin’s Preston Room, The Crowne Plaza in Timonium, Brasserie 810 South, and Sammy’s Trattoria.
